August 2019 Real Estate Musings

We probably all wonder how it would be to live in another’s shoes….in this case, another’s home.  And in this instance, “home” is an understatement.  I thought you might find it entertaining to see the Estate of the original owner who brought so much entertainment to the TV world of the 60’s through the 90’s – The Love Boat, Dynasty, Beverly Hills 90210, The Smother Brothers, Melrose Place, The Mod Squad, to name a very few.  Yes, Aaron Spelling, the prolific Producer of these shows,  built the impressive Estate in 1988, which is still to date the largest home in Los Angeles County.  It just sold for a record price and it was represented by my colleague and associate with Coldwell Banker Global Luxury.

Landmark Sale: The Manor Sells for $119.75 Million

The Manor, one of the largest and grandest private residences in Los Angeles, has sold for $119.75 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service and multiple media outlets. It was reportedly the highest home price in Los Angeles County history.

Originally built by entertainment royalty Aaron and Candy Spelling and exquisitely reimagined, the property is sited on nearly five flat acres in the coveted Platinum Triangle. The approximately 56,000 square-foot mansion represents the perfect marriage of visionary design and timeless grandeur. Bordering the renowned Los Angeles Country Club and shielded behind gates and hedges, a winding drive leads to a circular motor court with space for 100 cars.

A magnificent entry with 30-foot ceilings and a grand double staircase leads to breathtaking living spaces, including a stunning solarium, formal and informal dining, library, family room, state-of-the-art theatre, chef’s kitchen, billiards room, bowling alley, gym, wine cellar and beauty salon.

Extraordinary grounds include a resort-caliber pool and spa, championship tennis court, vast lawns and beautiful formal gardens. The Manor is just moments from downtown Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and The Beverly Hills Hotel.

Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Beverly Hills (a Global Luxury Ambassador for the Coldwell Banker Global Luxury® program) and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency shared the listing with David Parnes and James Harris of the Agency. Jeff Hyland of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer, according to media reports.
