Welcome to Buckhead

Often referred to as the “Beverly Hills of the South,” Buckhead is famous for its affluent residents, high-end shopping, upscale restaurants, and unbeatable nightlife scene. If you’re in the market for some of Atlanta’s most luxury uptown real estate, Buckhead is the community for you.

Buckhead’s beginnings date back to 1838 when Henry Irby purchased a chunk of land and opened up a general store along what is now the intersection of Peachtree, Roswell, and West Paces Ferry roads. Originally known as Irbyville, Buckhead got its ruminant-inspired name from a deer that Irby killed and mounted within the general store. By the late 1800s, Buckhead became an established destination for wealthy Atlantans — a reputation that continues to this day.

Luxury amenities

Buckhead is one of the most prominent commercial and financial hubs within the Southeast United States. Peachtree Road, one of the area’s major arteries, is brimming with upscale retail and high-rise office complexes, condos, and hotels. The most famous retail attractions are Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, which feature many upscale designer boutiques, as well as mainstream department stores and “big box” retailers. The new Shops of Buckhead Atlanta offers great dining options, as well as chic luxury shopping.

Historical & cultural attractions

Given its nearly 180 years of history, Buckhead boasts many historical and cultural attractions, including the Swan House, the Atlanta History Center, and the Cyclorama. Enjoy going to the theatre? Don’t miss the recently restored Buckhead Theatre, which originally opened its doors in 1931 and continues to be Atlanta’s “premier intimate theatrical venue.”

Nature & outdoor recreation

Buckhead may be situated in one of the busiest parts of Atlanta, but it isn’t difficult to find peace and tranquility within its boundaries thanks to the wealth of green spaces available. Whether you’re looking for tennis courts, golf courses, or an expansive network of woodland hiking trails, Buckhead has you covered. One of our favorite parks in the area is Chastain Park, which features 268 acres of park space that offers walking paths, tennis courts, playgrounds, a golf course, a swimming pool, a horse park, and even an outdoor amphitheater.
